created April 28 for The Digital Press challenge to scrap about a hobby | papers and flowers from Time Spent Together by Digital Scrap Ingredients; stitches from Pirates Not Allowed by Wishing Well Creations; arrow from Authentic by Sugarplum Paperie If you'd like to read my journaling more easily . . . I learned to cross-stitch from my aunt when she lived with us during junior high, while her husband was overseas. My first project was a tiny owl, which I put in a small circular wooden frame. It hung on my wall throughout high school. My biggest project in high school was a row of teddy bears wearing colorful sweaters, each with a letter. Together they spelled out “I LOVE YOU..” I even hung this in my house when we moved to Virginia, though it hasn’t been re-hung since we redecorated. Another big project was the carousel horse I stitched for my mom. While I was pregnant with Rhiannon I stitched the poem, “Babies Don’t Keep,” perhaps my favorite project. Now, since 2011, I have been working on my Cead Mile Failte project. It means 100 Thousand Welcomes. I used to work on it during Friday FAHA meetings, and got quite a lot done, but haven’t touched it yet in 2015 except to straighten up my desk. Keeping it on my desk, prominently displayed, is keeping it in mind, but not helping me get it done. It’s easy enough. There are just so many things I want to do!
created April 28 and posted at Digital Scrapper | I'm trialing full Photoshop right now (after 9 years with PSE) and getting the hang of it. This page was inspired by a Premier tutorial called Simple Circles, in August 2010. (Yes, I've been a member for a long time!) So I got a lot of practice command-selecting layers, making copies in new layers, and shadowing. I had a brief period of confuson when I couldn't figure out why pasting a layer style stopped working . . . until I realized I hadn't copied one yet. LOL I practiced curving text and clipping photos to my template and I learned about linking layers. One thing that's new to me that I'm liking a lot is the way guidelines appear as I'm moving elements, presumably to show me pleasing arrangments. All elements are from Kate Hadfield's kit, Weekend At Home, which was the Premiere kit in August 2014.
